Friday's Nail Combo Deborah Lippmann It`s Raining Men Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann It`s Raining Men Nail Lacquer is a timeless classic bright red colour. Everyone needs a colour like this in their collection. I would say it is a bright neutral red.  I have worn it quite often now because it just goes with everything.

The applicaiton of a Deborah Lippmann nail polish is so easy, the cap is the right size to hold it well and the brush makes it easy to apply the polish neatly. It was a gift from Deniz (see her blog here) and I LOVE it. Thanks girl. :)

The picture was made after five days since I applied it.

Friday's Nail Combo - An old classic

Lincoln Park After Dark from OPI

This is an old classic. I remember quite the raves going on about this nail polish the last two years. I still really like this colour as it looks black from far but when looking closer it is a dark purple and less harsh than black would be.

I am in quite the fall mood at the moment, so my nails kind of match that this weekend.
I am off to the Olympia Beauty show on Sunday and some other shopping which includes definitely checking out the Chanel fall nail polishes (especially Frenzy and Vertigo).

Toni&Guy HairMeetWardrobe Blogger Event

Technically I am more of a Youtuber than a Blogger but thanks to my lovely friend Kelly (jellyminxthinks) I was invited to the HairMeetWardrobe Blogger Event.
I was never invited to anything (thanks Toni&Guy) so I was more than happy and excited to go.

Toni&Guy wanted us to have fun at this event and try out some new hair styles (from casulal to creative and classic to glamour). A hairstyle always is part of an outfit and so is the makeup. It was a fun night trying out new styles, makeup and clothes and therefore create a whole look.
Check out www.hairmeetwardrobe.com for more info or tweet @hair_wardrobe.

I ask for a wavy elegant hair style that would be easy to create at home. Watch the video below if you want to know how to do it.

Special thanks to Subrina who teached me loads of tips on how to achieve those elegant waves on a daily basis!

The outfit to go with my hair was mainly from Monki (dress and jacket), the bag and belt were my own.
I wanted to create a casual yet elegant weekend kind of outfit I would wear. The lipstick was Rouge d'Armani in 400 and just had the most luxurious feel on the lips.

Thanks to Toni&Guy for inviting me! I had a blast as you can see :)

Mink Eyelash Extensions Day 2

Two days ago I went and had eyelash extensions done (as well as threading and eyebrow tinting). I got this with a groupon voucher I purchased some time ago. I could not resist passing this offer as I was curious about eyelash extensions for quite some time now.

I had my extensions (as well as the threading and tinting) done at the DVA lash and brow bar in the Westfield Stratford shopping centre. The service was not the best (especially as they let me wait really long even though I had an appointment), but when it was my turn it was actually quite fast.

It was a little unpleasant when the beautician sticked them on but we all know that beauty sometimes hurts ;)

So two days in, this is how they look:

So far, I have been really enjoying them. You can hardly feel them and I think they look really nice. On the pictures above I am wearing right eyeshadow of the Nars Kalahari Duo (one of my current loves) and I also applied a little mascara on the bottom lashes but that is it. Fast and easy in the morning.

I will keep you updated on how long they last and how they fall off.
Already this is written down in my holiday preparation list :)

Friday's Nail Combo: Royal Red by GELeration

My nail salon had this gel polish brand which I have not heard of, but looking at the swatches I loved the colour called Royal Red! So on it went.

I also opted for a rounded shape instead of square which makes the look very retro and I LOVE it!

Do you like the colour as much as me?

Friday's Nail Combo - Shellac Beau

My second Friday's Nail Combo post is a natural one. Decided to go for a very classic natural shade: Shellac's beau! As a shellac manicure usually lasts me for two weeks, I don't always feel like going all out. Besides, natural nails allow you to wear crazy arm jewellery without going overboard.

I really like this and I am sure it won't annoy me even on day 14!

Happy long weekend everyone!
I am already at the airpot going off to see my family in Austria!

Empties

Products I finished:
Boots Botanics Skin Brightening Toner
Boots Botanics Smoothing Eye Maekup Remover
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel
Astor Mattitude HD Foundation in 001
Palmolive Naturals Shower Milk with Honey and Milk
Dead Sea Spa Magik Bath Salts
Sure Cotton Dry Anit-Perspirant Roll-on
Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation in 25 Nude
Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Hair Mask
Lush Ocean Salt Facial Scrub
Rituals Yogi Flow Foaming Shower Gel Sensation
Alpha-H Liquid Gold

Products I will definitely buy again:
  • Astor Mattitude HD foundation, because it is cheap and I really like the look it gives (which is a satin finish). It also lasts for absolute ages which I love for work.
  • Vichy Dermablend foundation. I just really like it. The price is ok (not the cheapest but not outrageously expensive either). I love the coverage, I love the finish - quite dewy for a long lasting full coverage foundation- and I love the feeling on the skin. Only negative point: the colour range is very limited.
  • Alpha-H Liquid Gold, because I really think it has changed my skin to the better.

STAY AWAY FROM:
  • Dead Sea Spa Magik Bath Salts, because I did not notice that it did anything. Did not smell nice, was not moisturising, just dissolved and dissappeared in the bath water.
  • Lush Ocean Salt Facial Scrub, because this is nothing ANYONE should put on their face. It contains very coarse and irritating particels that scratch your skin!
Hope you enjoyed this post!

Friday's Nail Combo

I want to start a series on here that keeps me a bit on schedule with writing my posts!

After thinking a bit what it could be I decided to start a "Friday's Nail Combo" Series! This means that every Friday I will post what I have on my nails. Sometimes it will have been done in a salon and sometimes at home by myself. I think Friday is the perfect day to do this as I am usually in a good mood (it's the weekend) and I often do my nails o thursday for the weekend! As Friday is a casual day at the office, I usually go for bright colours and/or glitter.

I hope you enjoy this!

Fist Friday's Nail Combo: Essie's Jam n' Jelly, which is the perfect bright hot shimmery pink with a blueish undertone for this sunny weekend.

OPI Gel Manicure - A good man-darin is hard to find

Every six weeks or so and when I am planning to go on holiday where I don't want to bother about my nails I will get a gel or shellac manicure at a small independent salon near my office.
They charge 30 pounds for it (which is a good price I think).

The whole procedure lasts for about an hour. First, the nail polish you already had on will be taken off and your nails are filed in the right shape. Then the nails will be soaked and buffed and the cuticles removed.

From then on it is a very specific procedure. A base gel coat will be put on the small finger of your right hand and then the finger has to be cured under a UV lamp while the small finger of your left hand will get a layer of gel base coat. Next the gel base coat will be applied to the ring finger of your right had while the small finger of your left hand has to stay under the UV lamp.

This will go on until a layer of base coat and two layers of colour have been applied to every finger on both hands then both hands have to be put under the UV lamp to be cured for two minutes. A top/sealing coat will be applied as a final layer and a final two minutes of curing follow.

Afte that your nails will be cleaned with nail polish remover and you are ready to go! The nail polish is completely hard and you won't ruin your nails no matter what, no drying time!

This will last about 2 weeks and, depening on who skilled the salon worker was, it won't even chip. After two weeks you need to take it off as there will be quite a lot of regrowth.

This picture has ben taked exactly 14 days after I had it done. The colour was 'A good man-darin is hard to find' from OPI.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Three Months Glossybox Review/Comparison

I collected my glossyboxes for the last three months in order to compare them in the long term.
If you are thinking to subscribe this is hopefully valuable for you as you can judge if this is for you by comparing the boxes over a few months.

If you don't know what glossybox is, here is a short description: Glossybox is a subscription service, where you sign up to be sent one of their boxes each month in exchange for 12.95 pounds (includes postage). A box includes 'a mix of 5 exciting product miniatures packed in a beautiful box for you to test at home' (statement from the glossybox website).

The boxes for January, February and March all had different colours which I found quite cute. They make a good collection.

January Glosssybox (Valtentine's edition)

February Glossybox

March Glossybox (Harrods edition)

Note that not everyone will get the exact same glossy boxes. The products may vary for each person.

My favourite one out of the three was definitely the Harrods one as it had a Burberry lipstick sample and the YSL serum.
I actually collected three Carmine boxes as well to compare them with the Glossyboxes, but when I was ready to make this review I found out that Glossybox bought Carmine and their service will no longer exist!

Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes?
Do you prefer other services?

Let me know!

So long ...
