Friday's Nail Combo

I want to start a series on here that keeps me a bit on schedule with writing my posts!

After thinking a bit what it could be I decided to start a "Friday's Nail Combo" Series! This means that every Friday I will post what I have on my nails. Sometimes it will have been done in a salon and sometimes at home by myself. I think Friday is the perfect day to do this as I am usually in a good mood (it's the weekend) and I often do my nails o thursday for the weekend! As Friday is a casual day at the office, I usually go for bright colours and/or glitter.

I hope you enjoy this!

Fist Friday's Nail Combo: Essie's Jam n' Jelly, which is the perfect bright hot shimmery pink with a blueish undertone for this sunny weekend.

OPI Gel Manicure - A good man-darin is hard to find

Every six weeks or so and when I am planning to go on holiday where I don't want to bother about my nails I will get a gel or shellac manicure at a small independent salon near my office.
They charge 30 pounds for it (which is a good price I think).

The whole procedure lasts for about an hour. First, the nail polish you already had on will be taken off and your nails are filed in the right shape. Then the nails will be soaked and buffed and the cuticles removed.

From then on it is a very specific procedure. A base gel coat will be put on the small finger of your right hand and then the finger has to be cured under a UV lamp while the small finger of your left hand will get a layer of gel base coat. Next the gel base coat will be applied to the ring finger of your right had while the small finger of your left hand has to stay under the UV lamp.

This will go on until a layer of base coat and two layers of colour have been applied to every finger on both hands then both hands have to be put under the UV lamp to be cured for two minutes. A top/sealing coat will be applied as a final layer and a final two minutes of curing follow.

Afte that your nails will be cleaned with nail polish remover and you are ready to go! The nail polish is completely hard and you won't ruin your nails no matter what, no drying time!

This will last about 2 weeks and, depening on who skilled the salon worker was, it won't even chip. After two weeks you need to take it off as there will be quite a lot of regrowth.

This picture has ben taked exactly 14 days after I had it done. The colour was 'A good man-darin is hard to find' from OPI.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Three Months Glossybox Review/Comparison

I collected my glossyboxes for the last three months in order to compare them in the long term.
If you are thinking to subscribe this is hopefully valuable for you as you can judge if this is for you by comparing the boxes over a few months.

If you don't know what glossybox is, here is a short description: Glossybox is a subscription service, where you sign up to be sent one of their boxes each month in exchange for 12.95 pounds (includes postage). A box includes 'a mix of 5 exciting product miniatures packed in a beautiful box for you to test at home' (statement from the glossybox website).

The boxes for January, February and March all had different colours which I found quite cute. They make a good collection.

January Glosssybox (Valtentine's edition)

February Glossybox

March Glossybox (Harrods edition)

Note that not everyone will get the exact same glossy boxes. The products may vary for each person.

My favourite one out of the three was definitely the Harrods one as it had a Burberry lipstick sample and the YSL serum.
I actually collected three Carmine boxes as well to compare them with the Glossyboxes, but when I was ready to make this review I found out that Glossybox bought Carmine and their service will no longer exist!

Are you subscribed to any beauty boxes?
Do you prefer other services?

Let me know!

So long ...

Casual Weekend Outfit and Makeup

Recently I am really into baggy jeans shirts!
I love to wear them with a tank under it or a jumper on top. I think they are really comfy and casual and great to wear on a weekend.

I tried to make a good picture below but it is kinda hart to photograph yourself. LOL!
Check out my video that will follow where I show also the jacket and bag I wore on that day: click here!

Jeans Shirt: H&M in the sales
Necklace: Topshop
Watch: Folli Follie
Jeans: Gap 1969 Jeggins (I am in love with them)
Loafers: Asos (in love with them too)

Above is a shot of my makeup!
I love wearing the velvet matte lip pencils from NARS, above I am wearing Bettina.
I used the Nacked 2 Pallete for my eyemakeup and lots of black gel eyeliner.

Above is a picture of the makeup I used. Looking at it now it actually is not THAT much is it?
I also used the extra virgin minerals compact from TheBodyShop but I really don't like it. The consistency is really creamy at first and then gets so dry that it feels uncomfortable on the skin.

The two mascaras captured are my absolute favourite since two months! I love to use them together. First I use the Mac Zoomlash on the toplashes because it puts on a lot of black fast. I use the Bourjois Volumzser mascara in top of that for Volume and on the lower lashes as the Zoomlash always starts running down.

So far, so good!

MAC Spring Lipsticks Haul: Viva Glam Nicki, Innocence Beware! and Watch me Simmer

I got carried away!
After seeing a few swatches of the three lipsticks in question, I got carried away and decided: I need all three of them!
Innocence Beware! was limited edition and I always regretted that I did not get it, so now I had a second chance. The other two are just the perfect spring brights, which are just on the edge of being wearable to work.

Innocence Beware! (Cremesheen finish) is part of the SHOP MAC Collection is a pinky nude lipstick that is just perfect.

Viva Glam Nicki (Satin finish) is part of the Viva Glam collections which means that all the proceeds support the MAC Aids fund which is a creat cause!
The colour is described as a bright yellow pink, see swatch below.

Watch me Simmer (Amplified finish) is also part of the MAC SHOP Collection and is a bright bright pinky coral colour. This will definitely become one of my favourite spring summer lipsticks.

Excuse my dry lips but I thought that some lipstick swatches on the lips might be quite useful. I wore Viva Glam Nicki the other day to work and and looked amazing and wore a very long time.

What are your favourite spring lipsticks?

So long,...

Saturday OOTD 2

I had a great weekend actually doing nice stuff! Sometimes I am so tired and end up staying at home most of one day of the weekend which is nice, but this weeked I went shopping on Saturday and to Theo's (my boyfriend) band rehearsal on Sunday.

When Deniz tweeted me if I am up to meet Christiana and to go shopping my straight answer was "hell yeah"!
It was my first time visiting the Westfield in White City. I have been to the new one in Stratford before but never in the central one so I was quite excited. I had a great company, Christiana from cosmeticjunkie17 and Deniz from denizandmakeup. Christiana is on a road trip through Europe and London was her first stop. It was really nice meeting her but ever so surreal meeting someone you think you kind of know from YouTube in real-life.

So here is what I wore that day!

Coat: French Conncetion (Sale)
Scarf: Zara (last season)
Bag: Fiorelli (last season)
Swan Sweater: Camden Market
Light Blue Jeans: River Island Link!
Ankle Boots: "Night Rush" from Office Link!

I love those jeans from River Island. The fit is amazing and they are very strechy. I have a pair in black for some time now but when I saw those light blue babies I could not pass them up. Especially as they were reduced to 20 pounds! I think the colour of them is amazing. It is a very light blue but still has a puch and it is unlike any other coloured jeans I have seen in other shops this season. I like them so much that on the day I bought another pair in a pinky, salmon colour. I think they are perfect for spring and you can pair it with brown accessoires as well as black (as I did here) and/or white and for the brave ones under use you could go for colour blocking. At the moment I will stick to the light blue/black combination as I do not feel the spring vibe as much just yet!

So far, so good!

Current Obsessions!

Happy Sunday everyone!

I thought I would write a post about a few things I have been loving the last week!
The first one is my new Modalu Artemis bag I am completely in love with. I would describe the colours as a baby light blue.
It was on sale at a Fiorelli (bag shop) near me and I was eyeing it up for quite some time. I was really lucky and got this bag as a gift for Valtentines's and my Birthay together from my lovely boyfirend Theo!

The bag is smaller than the bag I use as my everyday work bag. You can wear it on your arm but it also comes with a long strap to wear cross the body! It is the perfect weekend bag (big enough for a bottle of water and a magazine for tube travel).
I think this bag is gorgeous and will serve me well for the spring and summer season. My favourite combination to wear it so far is jeans, a dark blue blaser with at white shirt underneath and my lovely ankle boots from office, see below).
Don't you love the colour of it?

My next obsession which I am in love with are my Office Night Rush Ankle Boots in black and suede leather. I bought them completely on a whim after a long work day when I decided to hit the shops instead of going straight home (which is usually not a wise decision, because I always end up buying something)!

I know that everyone is going on about the Ambush Boots from Topshop (I still want them in brown) but when I saw those boots in office I just had to have them. First of all the heel is quite high (8cm compared to the 6.5cm of the Ambush Boots) but they have a platform inside which makes it easy to walk on them all day long.
They also have them with studs on the heel but I decided to opt for a more classic version in order to be able to wear them everyday to work (which I did).
I know that they are a bit on the pricy side, but I think they are an amazing boot and would buy them again for sure!

Now finally, on to the makeup. I went to space nk some time ago (again after work, there is some behavioural pattern here, LOL) and I checked out the new Nars spring collection. I have been loving their velvet matte lip pencils lately where I already have two. In the spring collection they feature a new colour of the velvet gloss lip pencils called Mexican Rose.
The colour is a glossy pink which is bright but not too bright if you know what I mean. I was hooked and got it. I have been wearing it every day since then and love it.

The finish of this is very glossy but when the gloss wears off you are still left with a stain, which I love.
I swatched it below in comparison to Mac's Viva Glam Cyndy, which was limited edition and many people love as well. I have to say that I prefer the shade of Mexican Rose because it is a bit more to the pinky side than Viva Glam Cyndi which is more on the redisch side.
I think Mexican Rose suits me better but that is just my personal opinion. One thing I found is that Mexican Rose leaves quite the stain after I removed the swatches from my hand. It was quite hard to get it off my hand completely even using a makeup wipe. For me that is a good thing, others will hate that.

Viva Glam Cyndi is the top swatch, Mexican Rose below! If you already have Viva Glam Cyndi you might not wanna bother looking into Mexican Rose. If you always wanted Cyndi but did not get around to buy it than Mexican Rose is a good bet.
I love it.

So long...
