HAIR: How to get wavy curls with hot rollers

So, Saturday two weeks ago I filmed three videos in a row with my new camera. You can see, I got a little excited. One of those videos is how to get a wavy hairstyle with hot rollers. Hot rollers are usually used to get lift at the roots and quite tight curls. Nevertheless, if you roll the hair up differently, you can achieve a more modern wavy look.

The hot roller set I used is called "Nicky Clarke Hair Rollers" an is a compact set that I found in boots. I quite liked the price tag of it and that it was small, so I could even take it travelling.

Although putting them in takes a bit of practice, it did not take me more than 10 minutes for the first time. After that they need to be left in until completely cooled down which is about 40 minutes. What I like about this is that while they are in you can do other things such as get dressed, put makeup on, hover the house,... You get the drill. This would not be possilbe if you used a curling iron for example.

To see how I did it, watch the video below:

Hope you enjoyed this and see you soon!

5 New Year's Resolutions

HAPPY 2013 TO EVERYONE!

This is my first blog post in 2013 and I thought there is no better way than to start with my New Year's Resolutions. I am usually always one to say that I don't have any resolutions because they usually always fail.
Maybe the word "resolution" is just a little bit drastic. I just want to make a few little changes that will make 2013 better than 2012!

Happy New Year - thelipstickdiaries

Looking back ...

2012 was a good year for me, but I was totally consumbed by work. There were many weeks where it was just wake up, go to work, come back, eat, sleep and the same thing for the rest of the week.
Often I wanted to go out but just was to tired. I am not quite sure how to change this yet, but I really need to stop and think that work is really not everything.

The last year was a year where I managed (startin from Easter) to loose a few pounds. I got a bit chubby 2011 and my parents told me that it is time to be careful because i will be fat sooner than I know it. As harsh as it was they were right. SO, I started to eat moore healthy, very Dukan Diet orientated. On me eating a lot of protein and vegetables and limited carbs and fat worked like magic.

In terms of being active, I did quite well over the summer taking the Boris bike to work really often but as soon as winter came I got lazy. :(

Summer 2012 was our big holiday in Greece, check out my posts on that here and here. This holiday ws so well deserved and so amazing and beautiful that I still think about it quite often. The rest of the year I just went back home to Austria once in a while but did not really go to any other places.

Looking forward ...

For 2013 my 5 New Year's Resolutions are:
  1. Do more fun stuff
  2. Eat healthy
  3. Take the stairs everywhere possible
  4. Travel more
  5. Save some money
Sounds easy doesn't it?
I really want do do more things I love such as youtube, blogging, going out and meeting friends, work really is not everything and I really need to remember that regardless how tired I am. I will convice Theo to make a regular Wednesday date night or something to force us to go out. :)

I want to continue to eat healthy now that I know what works for me and loose a little bit more weight to finally be a size 10 again.

Taking the stairs where possilbe seems to the the hardest of my 5 goals. Especially in the morning this is quite a challenge. The good thing is that taking the stairs is still faster and easier that going for an hour to the gym (I hate the gym) and over time adds up.

Exept going to Greece I did not go anywhere new last year. This has to change. We are already considering to take a May weekend trip to Paris. Yay! Any tips anyone?

Additionally in 2013 I really want to save some money! This does not necessarily mean that I have to cut back on things, it might. It means primarily to find a new job where I get paid more, so wish me luck!

What are your resolutions for 2013?

So long...

Friday's Nail Combo Deborah Lippmann It`s Raining Men Nail Lacquer

Deborah Lippmann It`s Raining Men Nail Lacquer is a timeless classic bright red colour. Everyone needs a colour like this in their collection. I would say it is a bright neutral red.  I have worn it quite often now because it just goes with everything.

The applicaiton of a Deborah Lippmann nail polish is so easy, the cap is the right size to hold it well and the brush makes it easy to apply the polish neatly. It was a gift from Deniz (see her blog here) and I LOVE it. Thanks girl. :)

The picture was made after five days since I applied it.

Friday's Nail Combo - An old classic

Lincoln Park After Dark from OPI

This is an old classic. I remember quite the raves going on about this nail polish the last two years. I still really like this colour as it looks black from far but when looking closer it is a dark purple and less harsh than black would be.

I am in quite the fall mood at the moment, so my nails kind of match that this weekend.
I am off to the Olympia Beauty show on Sunday and some other shopping which includes definitely checking out the Chanel fall nail polishes (especially Frenzy and Vertigo).
